Cox and Box
or the Long Lost Brothers
F.C Burnand and Arthur Sullivan

A Rough Guide

Sergeant Bouncer has some interesting ideas about the letting of his lodging rooms.

A single room is let to Mr Cox, a hatter and Mr Box, a printer.  Their jobs meaning that one works all day, the other all night.

All goes well until Cox is given a day off.  After some obligatory farce Cox and Box come face-to-face and are incensed by what Bouncer has done.  While waiting for Bouncer to make amends the two find they have a common love and duelling pistols are demanded.

Instead of pistols Bouncer brings a forgotten letter to Mr Cox.  In the letter their mutual friend has thrown him over for Mr Knox.  Mr Cox and Mr Box soon forget their quarrel and find that they are..... long-lost-brothers!
